This blog post is a memory of the start of one of my around Australian tours from a few years back.
I had a long drive down from King Parrot Creek in the Goulburn Valley today; to Lakes Entrance in the Southeast Of Victoria and I wore my pedometer with a determination to achieve at least 10,000 steps even on what would be a busy day.
I felt inspired by my friend Linda who has been reporting in her 10.000 steps a day accomplishment, and I thought on days when I am sedentary, driving a lot. This would be a good target to aim for. 10,000- steps, great to keep the circulation moving.
I began the day with a walk around King Parrot Creek area, the same as we had done the evening before when we had first arrived.
We stopped three times during the drive, got out, and had a walk, and a I did a little shopping. I'd planned to cook fish and vegetables when we arrived at Lakes Entrance, but the trip was taking longer than I had hoped due to traffic and the mountain terrain, so bought two takeaway seafood and chips boxes and two takeaway coffees to have on the final stretch of the drive.
We arrived at Lakes Entrance, and we met up with my youngest daughter and her family here. Reg and I went for a walk along the lake foreshore together. Later, when my daughter and her family had finished their dinner, we all strolled along the foreshore and over the bridge to the surf beach beyond, then back. My eldest granddaughter and I had a short jog together. It was fun though not very efficient in my Croc sandals.
The photos are of the black swans we saw along the water’s edge of the lake.
When I returned from the second evening walk, I had clocked up my 10,000 steps. Tomorrow I hope to spend a lot of time walking around the lake with my daughter and her family, getting my exercise, as part of family life is fun. Without any long driving tomorrow, I will be able to cook my meals and eat healthier and more calories controlled again. It has been a big day. I’m relaxing by writing a few blog posts then I will be heading straight to sleep.
