I know my opinions about shoes is not a majority viewpoint but as I need to see a barrage of pictures of high heel shoes wherever I go, I feel the right to express that I personally 'don't buy into the idea that shoes that hamper a woman's ability to be the best she can be in health, have any sexy or beauty value other than in some benefit we have been 'sold' on a pharmacological basis. It reeks of the old thinking that women should somehow be weak and less capable of caring for themselves in order to be desirable to the strong alpha male. My attitude possibly ties in with why I cannot stand Mills n Boon style romances either. I'm just too must the old feminist, humanist and love being liberated from clothing that does not allow me to be the best I can be and I'm confident enough to go against the grain and say how I feel about shoes that don't provide a physical benefit to the wearer.
I only like sensible shoes. I dislike the culture that makes women think they have to wear body damaging footwear to look attractive. I threw all my high heals into the op shop bin thirty five years ago and the longer I have been away from them the more I am pleased I resisted the con that distorting ones natural posture was beautiful. I love the Rockports and my Brooks trainers which I get fitted at the Athletes Foot where the do a great fitting job.

1. Find a good shoe retailer who will take the time to discuss your footwear preferences, lifestyle habits, profession and type of feet.
2. Really think about how you feel when you put a pair of shoes on. Is your spine upright and your lungs open? Does the whole base of your foot touch the ground the way it is designed to ? If there is a heel, does the shoe provide extra support and padding?
3. Learn about your own feet. Are they narrow or wide? Do you have flat or high arches?
4. Find a style that suits you and stick with it and realize you can lead fashion with what suits you, being fashionable is not about being a follower of silly body harming style. I think that is 'being conned' and you are better than that, in my opinion.
