Choice has been writing articles about saving money and eating less meat was one of these. Over the past couple of years I have been eating less meat also as an effort to make my body's pH balance more alkaline and conducive to good bone health. The average western diet is acidic and as such it is the main cause of the huge incidence of osteoporosis in many countries. When I cook a meat dish i usually add legumes to it and then I make the meal do two meals, by freezing the left overs. This saves me money as legumes are inexpensive and improves my health, plus it is an easy and delicious way of extending the meat and adding lots of fiber to the meal.
This was the advice from Choice.
Eat less meat
Staples like rice, corn and beans are substantially cheaper than meat products. With some creative cooking, everything from stir fries to fajitas can be adjusted to a meat-free alternative that saves you money. There's evidence it can also help cut cholesterol and your risk of cancer, which can save you on health care costs too.
