The House that Reg and Ryn built, complete with landscaped garden, mini orchard and vegetable patch for under $40,000.
I finished building my own home. True, as a senior, with no building experience and by frequenting second-hand yards and second-hand online sales sites and by hiring casual labour where required I've built and decorated my five room home and garden.
The latest part of the home building project will be completed this Friday will be bamboo floors in the kitchen. I'm glad I didn't settle, as I'm thrilled with the kitchen floor we are getting this Friday. This will prompt me to begin that clean out. I'll list some things in eBay, gift much to charity and discard what I don't sell, give, or recycle. It is time to downsize some more.
I've been watching for a year for my kitchen floor to 'turn up.' It has, in time for Christmas 2015. What a lovely Christmas present to us. Bamboo click lock, floor boards left overs from someone else's project are just right for our rural country themed kitchen. The floor, including laying costs. will cost us $400. It just required that we wait and watch for the right opportunity.
This is the secondhand hutch I've purchased for $280 to be delivered. It has a few scratches on the inside but nothing too big. Otherwise in very good condition. Very heavy and solid piece. Draws are on rollers.
The kitchen in the house that Reg and Ryn built is coming up beautifully.
All the funny anecdotes of a major renovation and build job will become one of Ryn Shell's future novels.
Meanwhile, why we worked on emptying kitchen cupboards to move them while finishing the floor, my cat tore my bathroom apart. Toilet rolls, mop and rubbish bin, towels all over the floor. I started to say, 'bad boy', and then I saw the dead spider he had proudly laid out on the mat to show me. He is getting cuddles.
