There is a meme doing the rounds of Facebook claiming that cannabis has never caused a death. I'm not sure why people post such grossly exaggerated claims, I was already okay with some, limited availability of that drug for those determined to use it. But, I'm not in favour of spreading false information. So. here is a side of tho story that I'm aware of.
And who is capable of good management when stoned?
Well, Schizophrenia does kill otherwise healthy young people and can cause them to kill. Cannabis increases the risk of developing Schizophrenia.
Mental illness and drug driving cause deaths, so I don't feel one can say that cannabis never killed anyone.
It killed the man who's renovation nightmare I bought. He got stoned, fell, fractured his hip, had an embolism, died. They tore down the part of the renovation nightmare the silly fool died in, poisoned the mj crop.
I bought the mess for $20k, it was a fraction of what they wanted but no one wanted to buy an ex-druggies mess.
So the wife was left widowed and broke, as they owed the plumber more than they got back for the renovation mess they had to sell.
I pulled out the remains of the cannabis crop. I don't need mind altering anything. I spent another 20k and did the work, turned the place into a renovators dream.
Cannabis destroyed two lives, right here, in the property I own, before it became our (husband and me) dream home. The drug left them broke and one of them dead. There would be a million similar stories. You get stoned, you can accidentally kill or be accidentally killed or be left with a mental illness. All proven fact.
I don't care if people take dope, as long as they stay off the road, out of my smelling range and don't offer it to young people who are more susceptible to developing schizophrenia.
You can't compare two products that are chalk and cheese here. People with terminal illness pain issues or other situations where there is proven benefits will be allowed to access medical grade MJ, and I think that is good.
I don't care what people grow in their backyard. Increasingly, however, we are getting more drug driving that drunk driving on the roads. Have you noticed, after years of declining road deaths, the death toll on the roads is climbing again in direct proportion to the rise in drug driving? Yes, cannabis is causing a lot of deaths.
