Vary the intensity
Researchers found that women who alternated 8 seconds of high-intensity exercise with 12 seconds of low-intensity activity for 20 minutes, three times a week slimmed down faster than exercisers who worked out at a steady pace for twice as long. Start with 10 minutes of intervals today.
I think once you reach senior years you need to vary the type and intensity of any exercise as that helps prevent overuse injury.
Even with my work of painting and writing I find it pays to take frequent breaks and do an activity change, to help prevent overuse strain from these simple actions. Yes variety is the spice of life and what helps keep my body fit in my mid 60's and helping to keep Reg at 70, moving and happy. :-) We do not want extremes of physical activity, just good variety and balanced exercise.
I am still searching for more on line fitness programs to suit seniors and interested in any feedback people can give me of fitness programs aimed at seniors not young to midlife adult.
