My last post was about the Liver Cleansing Diet and the point I made, was that if we look after our livers and eat and drink to be healthy, we don't need to even think about doing liver cleansing diets. I believe that what we do to care for our liver, everyday, is better than doing extremes of liver abuse then liver cleansing. Liver cleansing fasts and then giving your liver toxins to handle, unless they are necessary medications, is just another form of self abuse. Still it is human nature that many love to party by celebrating with excessive alcohol or other means of intoxication. this love for a party or celebration mentality of us humans, is positive when we can use it as part of a balanced lifestyle.
Of course people can celebrate and enjoy themselves sober. It is easier to do this if the people we mix with when we celebrate as a group, share similar, 'respect their bodies' health,' values.
While I wonder why some people feel the need to begin binge drinking in the first place and put their liver and brain cells at risk, I am reminded by animal and bird behavior that drunkenness is nothing new nor just something people do.
Has anyone else had a hung over dog?
The story in the news about drunken birds reminded me, I once had a genuine alcoholic dog. I wasn't a 'bad' parent...she had a taste for the hard stuff when we got her...I just had to keep her away from it. If there was a bit of fermenting fruit on the ground outside, she would find it. it isn't hard to keep a domestic animal away from excessive alcohol, just pick up all fallen fruit. If you do have a family member who you think could have an alcohol problem or you would like help, yourself, talk to your family doctor. Don't ever feel you have to face problems alone. Take care of yourself, you are worth self love.
