A lot of informative research articles lately are stressing to me the importance of exercise for people of my 'body type', or people who have a strong family history of obesity.
I come from a short stocky, Scottish ancestry, ideal body composition for hiking the mountains and carrying the weight of bag pipes and withstanding icy blasts with my layers of insulating fat, maybe but lol, totally unsuited for my current fine weather living and easy lifestyle. As I am not needing to slug through the snow in my snow boots in winter, I have piled on a few kilo due to my efficient energy storing genes.
I do not need to allow those genes to dictate my body size though, I need to adapt and find alternative fun ways of being active.
If you are overweight or obese, then get moving on a regular & continuous basis. Find something that works for you.
A personal trainer will help you in your exercise routines, making sure you are doing it right. Any way you go, according to the study, will help you overcome your family history. Just do it and get others in your family doing it too! -Bob Choat, North American Ambassador WFC
