I'll go for a mushroom, baked in garlic, soy sauce & Worcestershire sauce, which went really well with a fishcake.
I also do my mushrooms in the microwave, so they're barely cooked. If they're sitting in a lake of their own juice, you've overcooked them. I have a grandson who loves to eat them raw. They have to be one of the most versatile foods. Big think chunky ones pan fried in butter taste as good as a steak - simply meaty.
Did you know mushroom are more closely related to mammals than they are to daisies? That's on my list of all-time favourite facts.
